What is an Indexable Tool?

Any tool that has a pocket or pockets to retain carbide indexable inserts for the purpose of machining ferrous or non-ferrous metals. Inserts are retained in pockets, typically with screws specifically manufactured for specific insert shape and style. Insert can also be retained by a cam pin. Inserts are located in pockets to repeat back to the same cutting dimensions to very close tolerances when indexed to a new cutting edge.
